What Exactly Is Blue Light?
Blue light is a type of short wavelength that has a very high visibility of light. These types of wavelengths are usually emitted through digital screens such as LED lights and even the sun.
Multiple studies have been done that suggest that such exposure of these waves for over an excessive amount of time can pose a problem to a person’s health, and thus can harm the cells that are within the retina.
If these cells are over exposed, they can be damaged and thus, vision loss occurs. There have been other studies that show that too much exposure can also cause macular degeneration from occurring, and in more serious cases, blindness. Lastly, they have also found that too much exposure can cause your body’s circadian rhythm from being disrupted, preventing you from getting the right amount of sleep, which can greatly cause some harm to your body.
Despite these studies made, the long term effects overall are still not found extensively since this is really the very first generation of people where digital devices have become the norm and been used to such an extent.
Some estimate that it may take years to fully develop a proper understanding of the impact blue light can cause to one’s eye health, but it is still important to understand what has been found thus far in order to ensure the safety and health of both you and your family, especially towards your children and the elderly as they are the most susceptible to blue light exposure.
